Supporting Scalable Fibre Infrastructure for Renewable Energy Networks in Regional New South Wales

Overview

A large-scale renewable energy infrastructure program in regional New South Wales required a resilient fibre layer to support communications between substations, control systems, and distributed energy assets.

Spanning remote and regional locations, the deployment demanded consistent execution across multiple sites, where logistics, environmental exposure, and installation variability can directly impact network reliability. Infrastructure needed to perform across long design lives while aligning with the broader transition toward low-emissions energy systems.

Approach & Outcome

Veyra Fibre is supporting the rollout by structuring a fibre solution aligned to utility-grade requirements, coordinating backbone cabling and high-density connectivity into a deployment model suited to dispersed, multi-site delivery environments.

High fibre-count loose tube cables were deployed to support scalable network capacity across distributed energy infrastructure, while pre-terminated MPO-based assemblies enabled efficient, plug-and-play connectivity at critical nodes. The design balanced mechanical robustness with installation flexibility, ensuring consistent performance across varied field conditions.

The solution incorporated:

  • High fibre-count dielectric armoured cables, selected to support scalable capacity across distributed energy assets

  • Flame-retardant, LSZH cable constructions for fire safety compliance in enclosed and sensitive environments

  • Low-loss MPO-based pre-terminated Armoured cable assemblies enabling high-density, plug-and-play connectivity

  • Multi-fibre configurations across single-mode and multi-mode networks, supporting both transmission and high-bandwidth data environments

  • Cable designs incorporating water-blocking, rodent resistance, and UV-stabilised sheathing for long-term environmental performance

Material, packaging, and shipment choices were optimised to reduce environmental impact, including the use of reusable and recyclable single-material packaging systems and lower-emission logistics.
